And, this ushers in a new stage of the relationship. At Coalesce, the Fivetran team announced the upcoming release of their native dbt Cloud integration, coming January 2024.

Increase efficiency with Fivetran’s dbt Cloud integration

Data teams have come to expect a fully-managed data pipeline creation and maintenance process from Fivetran and dbt. That’s why teams have gravitated to dbt Cloud. dbt Cloud is the fastest and most reliable way to deploy dbt, providing a centralized development experience to safely deploy, monitor and investigate transformation code in one web-based UI.

However, many teams operate Fivetran and dbt Cloud separately, orchestrating dbt Cloud jobs to run on a schedule independent of connector syncs.

Fivetran recognized the need for further automation, so we are excited to announce the release of our dbt Cloud integration. With this integration, teams can easily authenticate their dbt Cloud account into Fivetran and automate the orchestration of dbt Cloud jobs upon completion of sync of new data from relevant upstream connectors.

This approach to data pipeline creation increases automation, letting data teams focus on higher impact projects. This enables them to use one platform — Fivetran — to QA and monitor their entire pipeline. It also decreases data latency by ensuring transformations run immediately upon load of new data in your destination. All while saving teams computational costs by only running jobs when new data is available.
